Yes. And that ain't discrimination. Thats the bible, i am not going against the bible so you can get a piece of paper and feel all good. I have always been guy that is suspicious of dudes that dislike gay people because only a in the closet gay dude would be worried about who someone else sleeps with.
But as far as making it legal, that's too far. Do your thing and we will do ours. Yall the ones tripping on this, you know that it has been wrong since forever but yall gonna try and get the public to put a GOD stamp on it when yall know he don't want us to. Not me son. And quit trying to put me in yall fight, that is not my fight. Even if i was gay i would not make no preacher stand up and disrespect god to his face like that. I am not saying being gay is wrong because maybe people can't help themselves but the bible say what it say.
I respect people that are gay and love many people who are but that don't make the words in the bible any less clear. It may even be unfair but its Gods word and any preacher who marries same sex couples should not be holding the bible asking God to turn a blind eye to a rule he made. God is understanding i know in my heart, so Gays should be also and understand that living together is as far as a christian can approve without risking their soul. It's unfair to make us make a choice concerning your lifestyle.

Anyhoo, let me try again, more succinctly this time...
On the issue of Prop 8, if I lived in Cali I think I would have had to not vote on that issue at all, simply because I'm torn. On the one hand, I believe that gay people should have the right to live their life however they choose, so long as it doesn't infringe on my right to do the same. They have a right to legally be able to make decisions for and in concert with their loved ones. (In this world, if you are lucky enough to find someone to live your life with, more power to ya!) But there is currently no other legal option available outside of marriage. I can't make decisions for a boyfriend, but I can for a husband. But I/we have to get married before we can do such things. Gay people don't have that luxury.
On the other hand, I'm quite tired of gay folks being incredulous that they don't get more support from the black community, wrongly assuming that their struggle is the same as our struggle. It is not. I don't see gay people being satisfied with having equal rights more so than entitlement. They want the word "marriage" more than they want the rights that are afforded to married people...at least that's how it seems to me anyway. For that reason, it appears to be more about wanting total acceptance from the world, and that is not right. No one has to accept gay lifestyle, but no one should infringe upon their rights either.
So I can't vote "yes" for gay marriage...but I'm not sure I could vote "no" either.
As for the God and Bible issue, I sure wish black folks would get some edu-ma-cation on that before invoking the name of God into their reasoning so much. Religious folks are the biggest hypocrites. Just look at the Mormons, who financially backed the Prop 8 agenda. Yet there was a time when those same Mormons thought black folks were going to hell simply for being black! I'm sorry, but I'd rather align myself with a loving gay couple than a racist Christian any day.
Furthermore, it irks me when folks use God and the Bible to back up their reasoning citing that the Bible is "God's Word" (sorry Hustla). God's word? Says who??? The bible is merely a collection of books/stories that were decidedly put together to support a specific and certain agenda that was set forth by MAN, not God. Thru the bible, one can make a case for war, slavery and humans as property (especially women), dictatorship, groupthink and on and on... The bible does not give you the right to think as an individual (it got Jesus killed). Even the very notion that Jesus was God in flesh was a man-made decision. But I digress... Let me save this reasoning for another day. :)
Suffice it to say that I believe God is found in Consciousness and in the Unknown, not necessarily in some book. I hope that anyone's reason for doing/voting anything should be based on wisdom and not ill-informed blind faith.
It is true that one can look to the bible to explain why homosexuality is wrong. But the fact that I can look to the bible to explain why thru my own birth as a black woman the bible would not afford me the opportunity to share my opinion as freely as I am now, that it gives me pause to consider that something ain't right and complete there.
I once heard a saying that I feel applies here:
God is made in the image of man, and not the other way around.
Ponder that for a while!

I study the way the world is going and has gone concerning religion. I don't trust man so i can't fully get behind the bible either. The reason is that i know if their was no bible i would be in the basement writing one. There would be a zillion wide open humans on the earth waiting for something to come along an calm their fears about tdeath and the afterlife. But since there is one i have to be suspect.
Half (way more) the preachers are old pimps of one form or another, women pimps, system pimp, opportunity pimps..... Were crooked but now not. I don't trust the religios community. You hear me write about easter people (church people who fake) they treat you like crap because you ain't save, they are the meanest most hypocritical bastards on the planet barr none. I am lazy so i gotta stop writing, keep coming here carla because i would really miss you if you left.

I can feel ya Carla; however I voted against a similar law in Virginia and I would have done the same in California. I believe that marriage is an inherent right of being a U. S. citizen; thus to deny anyone the right to marry goes against the 14th ammendement - ” …. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” and to mix religion with state goes against the 1st amendment, free exercise of religion.” Many Christians and other religions believe that the bible or other religious doctrines prohibits marriage by same sex; but if one’s individual church or religion believes otherwise, then those person should have the right to marry or they can be married based on no religion at all. When we allow the state to intervene on anyone’s right to marry, and the underlying cause is due to religion or any other persoal agenda, we are opening a can of worms whereas those ammendments have no value what so ever! Whether one believes in same sex marriage or not - is up to the individual. But when we vote to allow the states to enforce laws prohibiting such, we are in effect allowing infringement on all of our rights. Under the 14th ammendment, all citizens have the same rights, not just straight individuals! I don’t believe that married couples should have better tax breaks either though. If two people choose not to marry but live as a couple, they should have the same tax breaks . . . that goes against the 14th ammendment too, in my opinion.
I don't feel it's a black issue; but it is a human rights issue - and who knows what group will be next!
Genious, I read the bible, as it contains much wisdom and it shows how real life is; human nature has been the same for years. We have a lot of evolving to do. I understand you not going against your personal beliefs and I applaud you for that. However, I don't agree that the Governement or State should be involved, at all. Everyone who marries aren't even Christians. As a Christian, but even more so as a human being, I feel the best advice in the Bible says, Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
