Walmart holiday credit glitch aimed at those below poverty level.

Walmart is lying! The glitch that supposedly allowed unqualified applicants to apply and recieve credit over the thanksgiving holiday was directly targeted at the poorer people in the poorer neighborhoods. I know i was in line with 300 other people.

WAUWATOSA, Wis. -- A melee at a Kmart store in Wauwatosa Saturday morning was started by a computer glitch.

The store was running a promotion in which it would give away $10 to anyone applying for its credit card, but the computer glitch led to everyone's application being granted -- bestowing up to $4,000 in instant credit to anyone who applied even if they shouldn't have qualified.

Once word started to spread about the so-called "free money" Saturday, witnesses said things got pretty nuts inside the Wauwatosa store.

"They were having a big fight. Two ladies was jumping a lady over credit cards," witness Sylvester Wilson said.

Nearly a dozen Wauwatosa squad cars responded to the call just before 11 a.m. Saturday for what was called a large fight in progress.

They call it a glitch but i know different, i waited in line with 300 other people at a different Big K, after my brother called and told me that kmart and walmart were giving away credit. "all i had to do was write my name, sign my name and show an ID." I asked, didn't they ask where you worked or anything? He said, "no, sign your name, print your name and show an ID. They gave me a credit limit of $2200 and i bought a big screen plasma and a laptop. I called my wife and they gave her $1600 worth and she bought clothes." He also told me that i better get up there because its all over the hood. I got dressed and went to the nearest Kmart i could find and sure enough it was just as he had said. This was at at least 15 stores.

I walked in, went to the service counter and asked for a master card credit application. The reason i know it wasn't a glitch is because of what happened next. The Big k employee behind the service desk ask me if i wanted a regular application or the special walmart/sears credit account? I said the special one, after urging from the guys and ladies in line behind me, and she handed me the bright yellow application with suspiciously few places to write on its front. On closer inspection i saw that there were only 4 spaces to write on, a place to print my last name, a place to print my first name, a place to print middle initial and the last was where i was instructed to sign. After that i was directed to the line that stretch back outside into the parking lot.

As i stood in the line waiting for my turn, the line was moving right along since all you had to do was give them the application, type your social security number in the card reader, provide a telphone number and wait to see how much credit you were allowed. The total process takes no longer than 30 seconds, i was impressed with how fast they were getting this done. And being poor i was just about foaming at the mouth at the just in time for christmas chance for credit, especially since i have no job. But i was sure i was going to get it since i knew at least 10 crackhesds who were selling the big screen plasma televisions they were allowed to leave with. I was about 10 back from the fron of the line when i decided i just couldn't do it and steped out of line after 30 minutes of waiting.

I was scared away by the 29% interest rate and the $35 - $50+ "late fee" this was a credit scam on the people least able to defend themselves and sears, walmart and kmart need to held accountable. This was a scam that would still be going on if a big riot style fight wouldnt have broken out at kmart on highway 100 in milwaukee, wisconsin. These people don't understand finances, they have no clue that they will owe $5000 on a 1000 dollars worth of credit in just a few short years.

I am through with Walmart, Kmart and sears because they are the worst types of racists on the planet, the hidden ones. They marketed this on local radio stations and they hid the details of the credit. The hid the fact that you will owe the 29% interest and $600 a year if you walk off from this credit card, which about 70% will do becuase they couldn't afford it anyway. If you miss a month and don't pay twice next month you will be paying and extra $50 a month on top of the 300+ interest on a $1000 loan until you get up to date, for many that means years. You can lose a house buying a television with credit like this. I tried to tell people in line but of course they were getting this "free money" i gave up. This is on par with lynching in the fact that they cared so little for the people thay targeted.
